Directions to McMaster University

Address: 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON L8S 4L8           

Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Learning & Discovery (MDCL): Room 1305 (Main floor)

 Parking: There will be parking available on the McMaster campus. The cost is $5 for the whole day.

 

From Toronto, Oakville, Burlington (to central campus)

  • Take Highway 403 to the Highway 8 West Main Street exit. At the traffic lights at the top of the ramp turn left and then immediately right on Newton Avenue. Continue to King Street. Cross King Street on to Sterling Street and proceed up Sterling to the McMaster campus.
  • Transit options: GO Transit offers some excellent public transit service right onto campus. The Hwy. 407 GO Bus service operates on weekdays and serves three carpool lots on the 407 (Dundas St., Bronte Rd. and Trafalgar Rd.), Square One in Mississauga, Bramalea, York University, Thornhill, Scarborough and Pickering. Weekday GO Bus service between McMaster and the Burlington GO station connects with GO Trains on the Lakeshore line. Express GO bus service from downtown Toronto gets you a 10 minute walk to Mac. Burlington Transit's #1 Plains-Fairview bus travels from the Appleby GO Station to downtown Hamilton, where you can transfer to a Mac-bound HSR (local Hamilton) bus.   • Directions for Bus Charters: Take 403 to Aberdeen exit. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Longwood Road. At the third traffic light turn left onto King Street. Take King to Sterling Street then turn right and proceed along Sterling to campus.

 

From Toronto Airport (Pearson International)

  • Transit options:GO Transit provides weekday service between Pearson International and campus, with a transfer at Bramalea GO Station. Weekend service is provided by Pacific Western’s Airport Express to downtown Toronto, with a transfer to GO Transit’s QEW express to downtown Hamilton. Click here for details.

 

From the Hamilton Airport

  • Take Airport Road until it turns into Butter Road. Turn right from Butter Road onto Fiddler's Green Road. Take the Highway 403 Eastbound exit from Fiddler's Green Road. Proceed along the 403 and exit as described in the directions for coming from Brantford.
  • Transit options:Hamilton’s municipal transit system services the John C. Munro International Airport. For details on taking transit from the airport to McMaster, click here.

 

From the Niagara Peninsula

  • Follow the Queen Elizabeth Way over the Skyway Bridge as though going to Toronto. Take Highway 403 towards Hamilton and exit as described above in the directions for coming from Toronto.
  • Transit options:Coach Canada offers service from Niagara Falls and St. Catharines to downtown Hamilton, with stops in a number of Niagara communities. From the downtown Hamilton bus terminal you can catch an HSR (local Hamilton) bus which will take you right onto campus. The "University 51" route operates on weekdays only and departs from the bus station. The "West Hamilton 5C", which runs on weekdays and weekends, has a stop at the corner of John and Jackson Sts. a block from the bus terminal. Both of these HSR routes stop right on campus. From Kitchener/Waterloo

  • Take Highway 8 to the Town of Dundas. Proceed along King Street straight through the town and this will become Cootes Drive. Just after entering the City of Hamilton there is an exit on the right for the west campus of McMaster University.
  • Transit options: Coach Canada's service from Kitchener and Cambridge, with stops in Sheffield, Rockton and West Flamborough, stops in front of McMaster at Main & Emerson streets. Visit www.coachcanada.com for more information.

 

From Brantford and London

  • From Brantford travel on Highway 403 to the Aberdeen Street exit. Proceed along Longwood Road to King Street. Turn left at King Street and go to the second traffic light. For entrance to the campus turn right onto Sterling Street and proceed along Sterling to McMaster University.
  • Transit options: Greyhound offers service from London, Ingersoll, Woodstock, Paris and Brantford directly to McMaster. Get details by calling 1-800-661-8747.
